WHERE IT ALL BEGAN

“To Wu Jian,
Keep it Funky.”

I used to be a popping dancer. While I was at university, I happened to meet the legendary dancer Skeeter Rabbit at a street dance competition where he was a judge. I was thrilled to get his autograph, and these were the words he wrote to me: “keep it Funky”. Sadly, just a few weeks later, I heard that he had passed away. But those words have stayed with me ever since.

I think the meaning is simple: hold on to that excitement to create, and follow your own rhythm. Take filmmaking seriously, but never forget to have fun.
